Select a dot or a path for the report. NWS survey teams walked the shaded paths after the storm; each is drawn at the widest width they found, so it can look wider than the damage at any one spot. Gust lines are estimates: the highest gust of the day in NOAA's hourly 2.5 km wind analysis (URMA), which fills in between weather stations. They aren't measurements at any building.

What happened

Before dawn on June 22, a line of severe storms moving south across central New York produced two EF1 tornadoes in Oneida County.1,2 In Clark Mills, the tornado dropped uprooted and snapped trees onto structures, crushing or slicing through three homes and killing three people. NOAA's Storm Events Database lists $440,000 in property damage.1 The second tornado ran from south of Westmoreland to near Clinton, with $125,000 in property damage listed.2

On the afternoon of June 21, a 45 mph gust from nearby showers and collapsing thunderstorms raised large waves on Lake Tahoe and capsized a boat near Emerald Bay, killing 8 of the 10 people aboard.3
