Select a dot or a path for the report. NWS survey teams walked the shaded paths after the storm; each is drawn at the widest width they found, so it can look wider than the damage at any one spot. Gust lines are estimates: the highest gust of the day in NOAA's hourly 2.5 km wind analysis (URMA), which fills in between weather stations. They aren't measurements at any building.

What happened

Late on the afternoon of July 30, 2024, a line of storms crossed southwest Indiana, and an EF1 tornado formed just east of Evansville Regional Airport.1 It tracked east-southeast into Warrick County with peak winds of 110 mph. Trees fell into homes and a few homes lost roofing and gutters. NOAA's Storm Events Database lists $350,000 in property damage in Warrick County.2 Straight-line winds downed trees and power lines in Boonville and in Patoka and Princeton in Gibson County.3,4

That evening in North Carolina, trees fell on homes on the west side of Statesville, and NOAA's Storm Events Database lists $200,000 in property damage there.5 Hail up to 2.75 inches across fell near Clear Lake in Polk County, Wisconsin, that morning.6
