What happened

A line of storms crossed the Mid-Atlantic from the evening of October 31 into the early hours of November 1, with widespread wind damage and a couple of short-lived tornadoes.1 An EF2 tornado touched down in Glen Mills, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, at 11:25 p.m. EDT, with winds near 120 mph that significantly damaged three houses and destroyed at least two greenhouses.1 Near Hartsville in Warminster Township, Bucks County, straight-line gusts up to 110 mph dropped trees on multiple homes, and two people were hurt.2 In Ambler, Montgomery County, a house reportedly collapsed in the wind and one person was injured.3

After midnight in Wall Township, New Jersey, straight-line winds near 100 mph caused substantial roof and wall collapse at a commercial building near the Monmouth County airport and threw its beams more than 300 feet.4 Along Lake Erie, high water flooded homes on Grand Island and along Route 5 near Hamburg, New York, after the lake crested at Buffalo Harbor just after midnight.5 Trees falling on vehicles killed two people, in Sandy Springs, Georgia, and in Montgomery County, Maryland.6,7
