What happened

A tornado touched down just southwest of Adairsville, Georgia, at about 11:12 AM EST on January 30 and strengthened to high-end EF3 in town.1 In Bartow County, at least 95 structures were damaged, 31 of them destroyed, and most of the damage to homes came from trees falling on them in downtown Adairsville.1 The worst damage was along Highway 140, and more than 100 cars were overturned near exit 306 on Interstate 75.1 One person died when a tree fell on a mobile home, and nine people were injured in the county.1 NOAA's Storm Events Database lists $60 million in property damage in Bartow County.1 The tornado continued into Gordon County, where 30 homes were destroyed, 110 had major damage and 70 had minor damage.2 Eight people were hurt there, and NOAA lists $15 million in property damage in Gordon County.2
