What happened

An EF3 tornado entered the southwest side of Woodward, Oklahoma, around 12:18 a.m. CDT on April 15. It heavily damaged several homes and businesses and destroyed several mobile homes on the north side of the city.1 Six people were killed and 29 were injured.1 Late on the evening of April 14, an EF3 tornado tracked about 13 miles across Sedgwick County, Kansas, from near Haysville and damaged many hangars at McConnell Air Force Base.2 Seven homes along its path lost two to four walls, about a quarter of the homes in a mobile home park were reduced to rubble, and several apartments and businesses had roofs torn off and windows blown out.2 That tornado injured 38 people, and NOAA's Storm Events Database lists $500 million in property damage from it.2 Earlier, around 6 p.m. CDT, an EF4 tornado near Kanopolis Reservoir in Ellsworth County, Kansas, swept a home off its foundation and destroyed it.3

Hail up to 4.5 inches across fell near Randolph in Riley County, Kansas, after midnight.4 Near Broughton in Clay County, Kansas, 4-inch hail put holes in roofs or cars and broke all west-facing house windows.5 In parts of North Platte, Nebraska, large hail up to tennis ball size fell off and on for almost two hours, and the Storm Events Database lists $36 million in property damage across three hail reports in and near the city.6,7,8
