Select a dot or a path for the report. NWS survey teams walked the shaded paths after the storm; each is drawn at the widest width they found, so it can look wider than the damage at any one spot. Gust lines are estimates: the highest gust of the day in NOAA's hourly 2.5 km wind analysis (URMA), which fills in between weather stations. They aren't measurements at any building.

What happened

Beryl came ashore near Matagorda Bay, Texas, early on July 8 as a Category 1 hurricane and produced tornadoes across East Texas, north Louisiana and southwest Arkansas. NWS surveys confirmed 43 tornadoes in those areas, 25 of them in north Louisiana, the largest outbreak in NWS Shreveport's history.1 An EF2 tornado with winds near 115 mph tracked nearly 53.5 miles through Red River and Bossier parishes, Louisiana, that afternoon. Falling trees damaged homes across Bossier Parish, where 164 manufactured and single-family homes were damaged or affected.1 A tree fell on a mobile home along its path, killing two people and injuring a child. NOAA's Storm Events Database lists $706,000 in property damage in Bossier Parish from this tornado.1

Two more EF2 tornadoes, with peak winds near 125 and 127 mph, crossed Sabine and DeSoto parishes. They blew in metal walls, tore off roofing, damaged homes and destroyed a manufactured home, and NOAA lists $1.25 million in property damage from them in DeSoto Parish.2,3 In Texas, an EF2 tornado with winds near 115 mph crossed the west side of Jasper around 10 a.m. CST, heavily damaging numerous homes and outbuildings and injuring one person. NOAA lists $350,000 in property damage.4
