What happened

In the early afternoon of June 30, hail 1 to 2 inches across fell in a swath across the Las Vegas Valley in Clark County, Nevada, and damaged numerous vehicles.1 NOAA's Storm Events Database lists $50 million in property damage from the hail.1 Near McCarran International Airport, a measured gust of 61 knots (70 mph) blew down a carport, dropped a large tree onto a house, destroyed a fireworks stand and brought an awning down onto several vehicles.2 Flash flooding from the same storms killed two people in Clark County, one directly and one indirectly, and injured one.3
