What happened

On the evening of August 10, a macroburst struck Missoula, Montana. A 74 mph gust was measured at the Missoula airport, and most of the damage was in the South Hills area.1 The winds snapped several power poles rated for 80 mph and brought down large trees and major power lines. NOAA's Storm Events Database lists $1 million in property damage.1

In Clarke County, Georgia, thunderstorm winds downed numerous trees and power lines and damaged some homes and businesses along Broad Street, Hancock Avenue and College Avenue.2 Near Falkville in Morgan County, Alabama, winds blew off the rear of a barn roof and partly collapsed the front of it.3 Near West Sunbury in Butler County, Pennsylvania, an EF0 tornado with winds up to 80 mph tore off a roof, moved a carport 40 yards and destroyed a deck on a house.4
