What happened

In southern Oklahoma, a tornado formed west-southwest of Blue in Bryan County at about 1:42 PM CST on May 25 and destroyed a few mobile homes, killing one person.1 It then moved north into Atoka County, where it was rated EF3, homes had significant damage and one person was injured east of Caney.2 In Milam County, Texas, an EF2 tornado that began near Pettibone at about 2:55 PM CST damaged or destroyed about 12 homes, mobile homes and farm buildings, and NOAA lists one death and six injuries from it.3 Near Poteau in Le Flore County, Oklahoma, an EF2 tornado with winds estimated at 110 to 120 mph severely damaged several homes, damaged roofs on others and destroyed at least two mobile homes, starting at about 4:48 PM CST.4

That night, from about 9:30 PM CST, heavy rain caused flash flooding in and around Houston, where water entered at least 2,585 homes and 73 commercial buildings and six people drowned.5 NOAA's Storm Events Database lists $25 million in property damage from that flooding in Harris County.5
